The economy will never recover if the US continues to fund the most inflationary spending there is--war spending. We will never eliminate terrorism if we continue to make more enemies through an escalation of the Afghanistan/Pakistan conflict.
The US taxpayer needs you to oppose the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and we need more than rhetoric. We need you to stop voting to fund these wars.
The inclusion of unemployment insurance in a war bill is an insult. A war funding bill causes unemployment in the first place: see this.
If you expect to be able to campaign as an opponent of these wars, you will need to announce immediately that you will vote 'No' unless the war funding is taken out and the unemployment insurance left in.
We taxpayers need you to commit now to voting ‘No’ on any future bills that fund the wars, and to demand that the funding vote for the Afghan escalation be held prior to the proposed escalation.
Like many of your constituents, it is harder and harder and harder to meet my monthly obligations--in large part because of policies crafted by Congress. I can't afford these senseless wars; we can't afford these senseless wars. Bring our troops home and replace them with humanitarian aid, and start fixing the problems at home, which are a much greater threat to America's security.
