Visibility 9-11 Special Report on COINTELPRO

2006 represented a turning point for all 9-11 Truth Activists in that we saw several high profile “members” of the 9-11 Truth Movement escalate an already established campaign of Infiltration, Dis-Information, Ad-Hominem Attacks on serious researchers and activists, and other forms of Information Sabotage designed to discredit our work and relegate us to the dustbins of history.

As I witnessed the engineered break-up of “Scholars” for 9-11 Truth among many other COINTELPRO style tactics, I realized that the destruction of our movement from within could no longer be ignored. In February of 2007, I conducted a series of interviews focusing on this topic which included interviews with Jim Hoffman of 9-11 Research, Attorney and Author Dr. William Pepper, and a frank talk with film maker John Albanese. If you haven’t done so already, please take the time to hear this important Special Report.

I was not the only one to take on this extremely important topic in an attempt to educate ALL activists on the reality of, and the history of COINTELPRO in the United States. Below is a short list of some who have taken the lead in educating YOU on the destruction occurring within our movement.

Kennebunkport Warning Cartoon: We are Funded by the Ford Foundation Because we Oppose Divisive Language?

In yet another strange twist in the Kennebunkport Warning Controversy, a professional-quality cartoon suggests that Cosmos, Michael Wolsey, Arabesque, and Col. Jenny Sparks work for Chip Berlet and the Ford Foundation. Let’s examine this hilarious cartoon, shall we.

First of all, I have spoken out about Mr. Berlet; he is anti-9/11 truth and is not a credible source of information. Like all dubious sources, his material must be examined carefully and corroborated before acceptance at face value.

In the cartoon, we are seen marching against 9/11 truth and the Kennebunkport Warning with “FBI marching orders“, “poison pens“, and “funding” from the Ford Foundation. The claim that we “oppose” the Kennebunkport warning is demonstrably absurd. Take a look at the original post of the Kennebunkport Warning on 911blogger. Who supplied evidence to support the warning? It wasn’t Tarpley–he simply claimed “massive evidence” without at first providing any in the original post. It was me. If I “opposed” the warning, why would I support it with my own research? In fact, I’ve said all along I don’t oppose the warning.

In reality, Mr. Tarpley and his associates have continued to evade our complaint about the divisive language and accusations hurled against the anti-war activists. When we brought attention to this issue, Mr. Tarpley and his supporters started hurling the accusations at us.

Now let’s put this in perspective: Is Mr. Tarpley calling us “funded by the Ford Foundation”, and “CoIntelPro” because we oppose his divisive language?

If so, that is one of the most ridiculous accusations I have ever heard. It’s too bad I don’t have the “funding” to commission hilarious and professional-quality cartoons in response.

Seven CIA Veterans Challenge 9/11 Commission Report

Official Account of 9/11 a “Joke” and a “Cover-up”

September 23, 2007 – Seven CIA veterans have severely criticized the official account of 9/11 and have called for a new investigation. “I think at simplest terms, there’s a cover-up. The 9/11 Report is a joke,” said Raymond McGovern, 27-year veteran of the CIA, who chaired National Intelligence Estimates during the seventies. “There are a whole bunch of unanswered questions. And the reason they’re unanswered is because this administration will not answer the questions,” he said. McGovern, who is also the founder of VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity), is one of many signers of a petition to reinvestigate 9/11.[1]

During his 27-year CIA career, McGovern personally delivered intelligence briefings to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, their Vice Presidents, Secretaries of State, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and many other senior government officials. Upon retirement in 1990, McGovern was awarded the CIA’s Intelligence Commendation Medallion and received a letter of appreciation from then President George H. W. Bush. However, McGovern returned the award[2] in 2006 in protest of the current George W. Bush Administration’s advocacy and use of torture.

In his blurb for 9/11 and American Empire: Intellectuals Speak Out,” edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott, McGovern wrote[3]: “It has long been clear that the Bush-Cheney administration cynically exploited the attacks of 9/11 to promote its imperial designs. But the present volume confronts us with evidence for an even more disturbing conclusion: that the 9/11 attacks were themselves orchestrated by this administration precisely so they could be thus exploited. If this is true, it is not merely the case, as the Downing Street memos show, that the stated reason for attacking Iraq was a lie. It is also the case that the whole “war on terror” was based on a prior deception. This book hence confronts the American people—indeed the people of the world as a whole—with an issue second to none in importance and urgency. I give this book, which in no way can be dismissed as the ravings of ‘paranoid conspiracy theorists,’ my highest possible recommendation.”

The meltdown of Webster G. Tarpley

John Leonard, who as far as I can tell is the publisher of Webster G. Tarpley’s book, 9/11Synthetic Terror, Made in the USA, posted a blog entry at 911blogger.com dated September 6^th, 2007 and titled Tarpley’s Rx for US 9/11 Truth Movement: Diversity and Civility in Discussion, Unity in Action. As you can see from the above quote attributed to Mr. Tarpley, he is asking the 9-11 movement to conduct themselves in a “business-like and respectful manner, without slander, without defamation, without ad hominem attacks on every page.”

I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement by Mr. Tarpley. I have been aware of the divisions within the 9-11 movement for years now and know that they have slowed our progress toward the truth behind the events of September 11^th. We do need to come together around the best possible evidence we have and get behind the best researchers to keep propelling our 9-11 questions to the forefront of the public eye. So I was a bit surprised to find out that the very day that this article surfaced at 911blogger.com, Webster Tarpley was publicly attacking me, Cosmos, Col. Jenny Sparks, Jon Gold, and Arabesque on his radio program GCN World report. In order to understand better what prompted this attack, it is important to step back in time and examine the circumstances surrounding the emergence of what is known as “The Kennebunkport Warning”, hereafter known in this article as the KW. It is also worth a look at Mr. Tarpley himself and what he believes and advocates.

We Don’t Need Any More Warnings

While busy with an event on September 10th of this year, I heard about some goings-on that resulted in bad publicity for the 9/11 Truth movement. Of course it is no longer surprising to many of us, who have been involved in fighting for the truth for years, that there would be some kind of hullabaloo just before the anniversary. This year the uproar included something called the “Kennebunkport Warning”, and a problem with this document as pointed out by some of the alleged signatories.

This warning document itself did not present any newsworthy information as far as I can see, other than the idea that some leaders of the Peace movement may have signed it. In fact, if it weren’t for these few signatures from prominent leaders of the Peace movement the warning would have been unremarkable, actually, as the message is fairly standard fair within the 9/11 Truth crowd, and is what many of us would be expected to say.

But when those prominent Peace movement leaders put out a statement suggesting that their signatures were either obtained under false pretenses, and/or they were less than fully aware of the entire message they had signed on to, the document gained attention. And as could have been predicted, that attention quickly turned into a divisive mess.

People asked how this could have happened. Then accusations were made, culminating in some ludicrous claims that some of our best leaders were disinformation agents for the government. How can we tell? Because, for example, one wears sunglasses and another has a beard. Brilliant.

Maybe this is just another ego problem, and maybe not. If it is, then it’s another opportunity to better understand that common problem we share. After all, that is the game upon which we are, as a society, being played.

As usual, we’ll see how these things develop, but we don’t really need any more warnings. We’ll do what we can to communicate the vital need for 9/11 truth and reach out to others in our country who work for peace. Until then, my thoughts and support go out to the great Cindy Sheehan, my friends Jon Gold and Michael Wolsey, the fine writer Arabesque, and those others who were unfairly treated in this incident. Hang in there and don’t give up hope.

Dawdler in chief: The suspicious behavior of George W. Bush during the 9/11 attacks

“Sandy Kress, Bush’s unpaid education advisor, was puzzled. Bush was always on time. But on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, he seemed to want to linger, talking about politics and mutual friends in Texas.” [1] So wrote Ronald Kessler in his account of the Bush presidency, A Matter of Character. The time in question was around 8:30 a.m., a quarter of an hour after American Airlines Flight 11 had broken communication with air traffic controllers. The 9/11 attacks were now underway. While many odd things took place that morning, Kress’s observation highlights another curious detail: On September 11, 2001, President Bush was running late.

This would be of little significance were it not for the fact that this behavior was completely out of character for the president. Bush is not known for dawdling. For example, earlier in 2001, CNN’s congressional correspondent Jonathan Karl talked of “Bush’s reputation for being punctual.” [2] According to David Frum, a former speechwriter for the president: “Bush is famous for his punctuality.” [3] Sandy Kress has called him “a very punctual person.” [4] According to the Washington Post: “Bush’s staff, his friends, his family, his wife” all describe him as “an intensely disciplined and focused individual,” who “puts a premium on punctuality.” [5] The London Times stated it more bluntly: “There has probably never been a president, there may not have been a human being, who observes punctuality with the sort of fanaticism that President George W. Bush brings to every aspect of his life.” [6] That was not, however, the case the morning of September 11.

Early morning

As he began that day, there was little that appears unusual in the president’s behavior. He’d arrived at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key, Florida, at 6:30 p.m. the previous evening, being in Florida as part of an effort to place a national spotlight on education. Bush went to bed early, as was his custom. [7] He’d gotten up just before 6 a.m. the morning of September 11. At 6:30, he went for his daily jog, going four-and-a-half miles around the Longboat Key Golf Club, accompanied by several Secret Service agents, and joined part of the way along by Bloomberg News White House correspondent Richard Keil. After returning to his hotel, the president ate breakfast, showered, and got dressed. Then, for the next hour, he met in his penthouse suite with a series of advisors, including — at just after 8 a.m. — receiving his daily CIA briefing. Reportedly, “The heightened threat of terrorism was mentioned this morning,” during the briefing, “as it had been nearly every morning since George W. Bush took office.” With his CIA briefer the president discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly the Palestinian situation. [8] So far, so good.

Bush only appears to have begun acting out of character after 8:15, which happens to coincide with the time the attacks were beginning, when Flight 11 broke contact with air traffic control. [9] At that time, Bush met with Sandy Kress to go over the details of his planned 9 o’clock visit to the Emma E. Booker Elementary School in nearby Sarasota, where he was set to take part in a reading program demonstration and then address parents and teachers. Also in the meeting were Bush’s senior advisor Karl Rove, White House chief of staff Andrew Card, and Secretary of Education Rod Paige. Bush was scheduled to leave the resort at 8:30 a.m. for the drive to the school. But, Kress has recalled, he “was just sitting back and wanting to talk for a bit.” According to Kress: “I’ve never known him to be late. But I remember we finished the briefing on that fateful day, and we continued to talk for another ten minutes about people and politics in Texas. The time to leave came and passed.” Kress added: “That struck me as unusual.” [10] It appears that Bush was dawdling.

The Far-Reaching Health Effects of 9/11 Air Pollution

First the people in the towers died. Then the rescue workers. Now first responders are succumbing to a 9/11 illness. The next victims: tens of thousands of ordinary citizens who worked and lived in Lower Manhattan—all of whom were told that the air was safe.

So Discover has released a package that focuses directly on this final group of 9/11 victims. The first part is a feature story on how the federal and city governments did not live up to their responsibility to protect the people in Lower Manhattan from air pollution. The second is an interview with Philip Landrigan, the doctor in charge of monitoring the far-reaching health effects of 9/11 on people in New York.

Discover is also creating a forum for people to talk about health problems caused by the pollution from the collapse of the Twin Towers. We invite readers to include their comments on this subject below—either about effects on their own health or their thoughts on the issue and how it’s been handled.

We will gather the information presented in this forum and pass it along to medical authorities and members of Congress to help construct a clearer picture of the scope of the problem.

Spitzer’s Real Scandal

“Eliot Spitzer is like the good-looking bouncer in a bar, who is secretly dealing drugs,” explained forensic microbiologist Mike Copass. We were in a San Diego bar this July, down near the water in Ocean Beach. Copass had acted as a facilitator of San Diego’s 9/11 Citizen’s Grand Jury, an extra-legal group which mounted a mock trial in April.

Copass has degrees from Stanford and Harvard, and an eager glint in his eye. Despite his preppy appearance, Copass makes some pretty radical allegations: that Eliot Spitzer acted as a firewall, preventing public disclosure of his friends’ roles in the anthrax attacks that occurred shortly after 9/11, in addition to facilitating his associates’ windfall from the bloated insurance pay-outs at the World Trade Center. He even accuses Spitzer of covering up the real perpetrators of the 9/11 attack itself.

Last fall, Eliot Spitzer was swept into the governor’s mansion with 70 per cent of the vote. His public reputation was that of a heroic fighter of white collar crime. Earlier he bragged about being “very close” to Hillary Clinton. He hinted he wouldn’t refuse an invitation to run for vice president, if his friend Hillary got the nomination.

But this summer in Albany, the Spitzer façade cracked. Instead of creating consensus, Spitzer’s team spent its time plotting to unseat Republican rivals in the Legislature sometimes at the ballot box, sometimes using the police. His own attorney general, Andrew Cuomo, is now investigating the governor’s office’s misuse of state troopers to monitor political rival Joe Bruno. To minority leader James Tedisco, Spitzer recently snapped, “I’m a fucking steamroller, and I’ll roll over you.”

No major media outlet has paid attention to the San Diego Citizens Grand Jury’s indictments of Rudy Giuliani, or his former “terror-expert” Jerome Hauer. The Megaphone received documents recently that indicate Eliot Spitzer’s social connections may be preventing him from investigating 9/11. There’s a scandal in Albany, but police spying on Bruno is just the tip of the iceberg.

Activist, Peace Leader, Rev. Yearwood attacked and hospitalized by 6 Capitol Police Officers

Rev. Yearwood, the black hip hop artist who founded the anti-war group known as the Hip Hop Caucus, was attacked and hospitalized by six Capitol Police Officers this afternoon. He was taken here, to George Washington Hospital, in the center of Washington DC. According to witnesses the Rev. was told by police to leave the premises of the Cannon House Office Building, or to risk arrest. To this, the Rev. replied, “I’m not going to allow you to arrest me.” Witnesses then saw six police officers assault the Rev., breaking one leg and visibly bashing his head. The Rev. was then carried off in a wheel chair. Currently the Capitol Police have issued no statement on the cause of the arrest, the injuries that ensued, or the current state of the Rev. As of 2:30 pm, no one is being allowed to observe the state of the Reverend’s condition… March of the People organizer Mario Penalver has issued the following statement: “The incident today is a travesty of our nation, and yet another example of the gross misuse of force and the injustice polluting the highest seats of power. Rev. Yearwood inspired me. He’s a colleague and a friend. What has been done to him only convinces us in the Peace/Impeachment movement that what we are and what we do will not be silenced, by one blow or a hundred.”

Webster Tarpley supplies us with an ad-hominem filled commentary on the Kennebunkport Warning Controversy on his radio show:

“Who opposes the Kennebunkport warning? We discovered going through this that if you take all the slanderous filth, counter-organizing, disinformation and so forth, about two-thirds of it comes from about half a dozen people as far as I can see. And let’s tell you who they are. First of all, you have to look at the site called truthaction.org. As far as I can see about two-thirds of the site appears to be devoted to slanders and vilification of the Kennebunkport Warning. This shows what one can only call the typical style of the counter-gang. In other words it takes elements from lots of people’s work including my own. They talk about truth squads, they have a candidate tracker, they talk about a general strike, they take things from Ron Paul, they take things from We Are Change, but then they mix in a huge dose of anonymous slander, vilification, denigration, calumny, libel, and defamation. The leading poison pen seems to be an individual called Cosmos. Now this I think is extremely objectionable. Here is somebody who will not tell you his real name but he demands the right to be a poison pen. Anonymous slanders are his stock and trade. He wants to slander you and vilify you from the shadows, spread disinformation, distortions. These are the venom-mongers, the merchants of pus who like to operate from behind the scenes. These are the wreckers and saboteurs, and of course the question is posed: Is this COINTELPRO? Is this the conform of the FBI counter-gang? Those are interesting questions. I can’t answer them, but they are very interesting.

Then we have somebody else called Colonel Jenny Sparks in quotation marks. She shows herself as a cartoon figure prancing in an abbreviated costume before the Union Jack. Another poison pen slanderer, another wrecker and saboteur. The only questions we have are, is this COINTELPRO, is this the current style of the FBI counter-gang?

So here we have Cosmos who shows you he looks like he’s trying to imitate Che Guavara or a member of the Sons of David baseball team. He’s hiding behind a huge beard, looks like the Italian aviators in A Night at the Opera. He’s got this army fatigue cap pulled down over his eyes so you can’t see him, he might as well be anonymous. Jenny Sparks completely anonymous.

Michael Wolsey, Visibility 9/11. He appears of course in shades, he’s got some cool shades on, he doesn’t want you to see him. Dear Friends,
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my listeners for the support and words of encouragement I have received. Generous support from listeners makes this broadcast possible and we will continue to work on ways to make the program and the website better in our mission of spreading the truth. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to those who have helped me along the way.

Thanks to some generous donations to the program, I was able to obtain some new equipment and software to produce the program on. The transition between the old and the new has been much more difficult than I had imagined both in terms of getting the new system set up, and learning how to use it. While I expect that this new set up will improve the quality of the program, and decrease the time it takes to produce a program, the learning curve has been much more difficult. You may have noticed that the last few programs are a bit rough around the edges, however, with each program, I learn more about the software and get more efficient.

As I write, the 6th anniversary of the September 11th Attacks is fast approaching. With large truth events scheduled for New York and Washington D.C., there are ample opportunities for all activists to get out and protest the 9-11 cover-up. Zogby Poll: 51% of Americans Want Congress to Probe Bush/Cheney Regarding 9/11 Attacks; Over 30% Seek Immediate Impeachment

Kansas City, MO (Zogby International) September 6, 2007 – As America nears the sixth anniversary of the world-churning events of September 11, 2001, a new Zogby International poll finds a majority of Americans still await a Congressional investigation of President Bush’ and Vice President Cheney’s actions before, during and after the 9/11 attacks. Over 30% also believe Bush and/or Cheney should be immediately impeached by the House of Representatives.

The 911truth.org-sponsored poll also found that over two-thirds of Americans say the 9/11 Commission should have investigated the still unexplained collapse of the 47-story World Trade Center Building 7 at 5:20 p.m. on September 11, 2001.

WTC 7 housed the mayor’s emergency bunker and offices of the SEC, IRS, CIA and Secret Service and was not hit by any planes but still completely collapsed into its own footprint nearly eight hours after the Twin Tower attacks. FEMA did not explain this collapse, the 911 Commission ignored it, and the promised official study by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is now 2 years overdue.

Janice Matthews, executive director of poll sponsor 911truth.org, observes: “The supermajority response to the WTC Building 7 question signals an increasing public concern about this remarkable event — up from 38% last year. We can perhaps credit this rising awareness to the millions who have recently witnessed videos or Youtube clips of this skyscraper’s descent and the outspoken demands for a new WTC inquiry from over 150 architects and engineering professionals, including NIST’s own former Fire Science Division Chief, Dr. James Quintiere. Another contributory factor is the increased questioning among Hispanics, Blacks and Asians whose responses appear significantly more critical of the 9/11 Commission than Whites, sometimes twice as critical.”

Strategy aide W. David Kubiak adds, “While only 32% seek immediate Bush and/or Cheney impeachment based on their current personal knowledge, a clear majority of citizens still seems hungry for a full exposure of the facts. The results suggest widespread public support for legislators like Rep. Dennis Kucinich who pledge to investigate unanswered 9/11 questions in the relevant congressional committees this fall. We hope more of our representatives find the spine to respond to this escalating dissatisfaction with the dubious accounting we have received thus far.”

9/11 family member and 911truth.org adviser Donna Marsh O’Connor notes, “I’m not sure this poll is at all surprising. Over half of those polled want more answers from Congress, from those they hired to represent them. One quarter of the country knows enough to want to impeach both. Doesn’t it just mean people need figures they consider credible to tell them whether key details add up or not? Truth advocates need to press their case in Congress, on college campuses, in church groups with reason and absolute discipline regarding what can and cannot be proven. The strongest evidence needs to reach the people-including people who hate computers. We must present it calmly. Like whispering so that people reach in to hear.”

Survey Methodology

This is a telephone survey of adults nationwide conducted by Zogby International. The target sample is 1,000 interviews with approximately 71 questions asked. Samples are randomly drawn from telephone cd’s of national listed sample. Zogby International surveys employ sampling strategies in which selection probabilities are proportional to population size within area codes and exchanges. As many as six calls are made to reach a sampled phone number. Cooperation rates are calculated using one of AAPOR’s approved methodologies and are comparable to other professional public-opinion surveys conducted using similar sampling strategies. Weighting by region, party, age, race, religion, and gender is used to adjust for non-response. The margin of error is +/- 3.1 percentage points. Margins of error are higher in sub-groups.
