(Without a doubt, this "museum" is a propaganda ploy to cement the OCT firmly as the "truth" of history. But, as Lloyde England said, "history is 'his story.' It has nothing to do with truth, it's his story." I can't think of a better opportunity for DC truthers to show up and sign these beams with some truth. I'm sure y'all can figure out a tasteful way of doing it. - Kam)
WASHINGTON (Map, News) -

Eager to Tap Iraq's Vast Oil Reserves, Industry Execs Suggested Invasion
Friday 03 July 2009
by: Jason Leopold, t r u t h o u t | Report
Two years before the invasion of Iraq, oil executives and foreign policy advisers told the Bush administration that the United States would remain "a prisoner of its energy dilemma" as long as Saddam Hussein was in power.
That April 2001 report, "Strategic Policy Challenges for the 21st Century," was prepared by the James A. Baker Institute for Public Policy and the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations at the request of then-Vice President Dick Cheney.
In retrospect, it appears that the report helped focus administration thinking on why it made geopolitical sense to oust Hussein, whose country sat on the world's second largest oil reserves.
"Iraq remains a destabilizing influence to the flow of oil to international markets from the Middle East," the report said.
The US Empire of Bases--at $102 billion a year already the world's costliest military enterprise--just got a good deal more expensive. As a start, on May 27, we learned that the State Department will build a new "embassy" in Islamabad, Pakistan, which at $736 million will be the second priciest ever constructed, only $4 million less, if cost overruns don't occur, than the Vatican City-sized one the Bush administration put up in Baghdad. The State Department was also reportedly planning to buy the five-star Pearl Continental Hotel (complete with pool) in Peshawar, near the border with Afghanistan, to use as a consulate and living quarters for its staff there...

CNN's Roberts says Scheuer's "major weapon" comment is "out there"

Just another day for Glenn Beck;
"Glenn Beck nods and agrees with his guest Michael Scheuer [Ed.: 22-year CIA employee, "Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004." (Wikipedia)] that the only way to "save" the US (from illegal immigrants, of course) is for Osama bin Laden to succeed in detonating a weapon on American soil. Scheuer and Beck hit all the conservative buttons, from Mexicans to the mainstream media and the worst of all, Europeans. From the June 30th, 2009 Glenn Beck on Fox News."

The question of whether Osama bin Laden has ever visited the United States, a subject on which I have expended an unhealthy amount of energy in the course of various journalistic and biographical research, has now seemingly been settled. Osama was here for two weeks in 1979, it seems, and he visited Indiana and Los Angeles, among other places. He had a favorable encounter with an American medical doctor; he also reportedly met in Los Angeles with his spiritual mentor of the time, the Palestinian radical Abdullah Azzam. All this is according to a forthcoming book by Osama’s first wife, Najwa Bin Laden, and his son Omar Bin Laden, to be published in the autumn by St. Martin’s Press.
Hi. This is my first post to this forum, although I've been reading it for some months. My name is Richard Johns, and I'm a philosopher of science, teaching in the philosophy department at the University of British Columbia. My doctoral thesis was a study of the kind of probability that physicists deal with, now published as a monograph *A Theory of Physical Probability* with the University of Toronto Press. My other main research interests are in logic, and the physics of self organisation.
I became aware of the anomalous failures of the WTC towers through a friend who is a civil engineer. I have done some reading about these "collapses", and am especially interested in Bazant's work. It is fascinating to see (apparently) absurd views published by such an able scholar in a reputable academic journal. I'm determined to get to the bottom of this.
I am planning to put my thoughts on this issue on my new personal bog:
UPDATE 7/2/09

One of Cynthia's friend received a phone call from Ramle prison. The incarcerated
prisoners are calling themselves "Free Gaza 21" even though Huwaida
and Lubna have been released. Below is Cynthia's statement...

The latest from http://www.freegaza.org
reports that the humanitarian vessel Spirit of Humanity has been attacked
and boarded by the Israelis 23 miles off the coast of Gaza. Former US Congresswoman
and Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney is among the 21 human rights workers
taken prisoner off the ship.
[23 miles off the coast of Gaza, 15:30pm (http://www.freegaza.org/en/home/hope-fleet-news/...israel-attacks...kidnaps)]
- Today Israeli Occupation Forces attacked and boarded the Free Gaza Movement
boat, the SPIRIT OF HUMANITY, abducting 21 human rights workers from 11 countries,
including Nobel laureate Mairead Maguire and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia
McKinney (see below for a complete list of passengers). The passengers and crew
are being forcibly dragged toward Israel.
"This is an outrageous violation of international law against us. Our
boat was not in Israeli waters, and we were on a human rights mission to the
Gaza Strip," said Cynthia McKinney, a former U.S. Congresswoman and presidential
candidate. "President Obama just told Israel to let in humanitarian and
reconstruction supplies, and that's exactly what we tried to do. We're asking
the international community to demand our release so we can resume our journey."
Enver Masud: 9/11, Waterboarding, a Confession and the Iraq War

Enver Masud was one of the speakers at a "Demand Accountability for Torture" rally, on June 25, 2009, in John Marshall Park, in Washington, D.C. He questioned how Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was" waterboarded 183 times by the CIA," and then confessed to being the "mastermind of 9/11," can get a "fair trial"in this country. Mr. Masud connected the dots between 9/11, the waterboarding of a detainee, a so-called "confession," and the Iraq War. Mr. Masud is the founder and CEO of "The Wisdom Fund" and the author of "The War on Islam."
Court won't hear Sept. 11 claims vs. Saudi Arabia
June 29, 2009
News.Yahoon.com
WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has refused to allow victims of the Sept.
11 attacks to pursue lawsuits against Saudi Arabia and four of its princes over
charitable donations that were allegedly funneled to al-Qaida.
The court, in an order Monday, is leaving in place the ruling of a federal
appeals court that the country and the princes are protected by sovereign immunity,
which generally means that foreign countries can't be sued in American courts.
The Obama administration had angered some victims and families by urging the
justices to pass up the case.
In their appeal, the more than 6,000 plaintiffs said the government's court
brief filed in early June was an "apparent effort to appease a sometime
ally" just before President Barack Obama's visit to Saudi Arabia.
On June 27th, 2009, Mark from Truth Action Ottawa interviewed Cosmos, founder of the international 11th Of Every Month Campaign and the truthaction.org website. The hour-long conversation covers a wide range of topics relating to 9/11 activism and celebrates the upcoming July 11th actions, which will be the 30th since the campaign began.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now
filed a petition containing 52,000 signatures calling for a referendum on the
creation of a New York City independent commission to investigate the events of
September 11, 2001.
9/11 Family Members Maureen Hunt and Manny Badillo, and First Responders Charlie
Giles of the Feal Good Foundation and Bill Gleason of the World Trade Center
Rescuers Foundation arrived at the City Clerk's office to deliver the
petition and speak on behalf of all the proud and concerned citizens who deserve
an unbiased, nonpolitical investigation of the tragedy that has affected us
so deeply.
Thank you for getting us this far! City Council now has until August 24 to
approve the placement of the referendum on the November 3 ballot. As hundreds
more 9/11 family members, first responders and survivors join NYC CAN's
campaign for a new investigation, lobbying their council members to support
the petition, our chances grow.
Commentary on White House "trial balloon" news from WaPo by former constitutional law and civil rights litigator in New York ...

In his remarkable speech at Cairo University on June 4, President Obama promised
"a new beginning." In the words of the Israeli commentator Uri Avnery,
the speech offered "the map of a new world, a different world, whose values
and laws he spelled out in simple and clear language -- a mixture of idealism
and practical politics, vision and pragmatism."1
Much of what Obama had to say was new, and warmed the hearts of observers like
myself, who had become increasingly concerned about the new president's
fidelity to the financial and military policies of the previous Bush-Cheney
administration. But while Obama broke new ground on Israel-Palestine issues,
he glossed over troubling issues pertaining to the US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He also glossed over one of the fundamental issues alienating the Muslim world:
America's relentless efforts to preserve its threatened financial status
by moves to dominate the region's oil resources. Here his careful ambiguity
was ominously reminiscent of the Bush era.
The speech reaffirmed a complete withdrawal of US forces from Iraq by 2012,
as the U.S. committed itself to do in a signed agreement last December. In addition
Obama asserted that "we do not want to keep our troops in Afghanistan...
We would gladly bring every single one of our troops home if we could be confident
that there were not violent extremists in Afghanistan and now Pakistan."
But Obama's remarks did not address the statement on May 26, 2009, by
Gen. George Casey, Army chief of staff, that, despite the agreement with Iraq,
the United States would continue to have fighting forces in Iraq and Afghanistan
beyond 2012. The reality, Casey said, is that "we're going
to have 10 Army and Marine units deployed for a decade in Iraq and Afghanistan."2
Nor is it clear that Obama's promise to withdraw "troops"
from Iraq would also cover private military contractors (PMCs) . Jeremy Scahill,
author of a book on the notorious firm Blackwater, said on the Bill Moyers show
that what we're seeing in the Cairo speech "is sort of old wine in a new
bottle. Obama is sending one message to the world," he told Moyers, "but
the reality on the ground, particularly when it comes to private military contractors,
is that the status quo remains from the Bush era."3
'If I didn't confess to 7/7 bombings MI5 officers would rape my wife,'

A British man spoke publicly for the first time yesterday to accuse MI5 officers
of forcing him to confess to masterminding the July 7 bombings.
Jamil Rahman claims UK security officers were behind his arrest in 2005 in
Bangladesh.
He says he was beaten repeatedly by local officials who also threatened to
rape him and his wife.
Mr Rahman, who is suing the Home Office, said a pair of MI5 officers who attended
his torture and interrogation would leave the room while he was beaten.
Call for public inquiry into 7/7 from former head of counter-terrorism

An independent public inquiry should be held into how suicide terrorists were
able to carry out the July 7 bombings, Scotland Yard's former head of
counter-terrorism says.
Andy Hayman, who was Assistant Commissioner for Special Operations at the time
of the bombings in 2005, is the first figure from the security establishment
to break ranks and call for an open inquiry.

The Obama administration, fearing a battle with Congress that could stall plans
to close Guantanamo, has drafted an executive order that would reassert presidential
authority to incarcerate terrorism suspects indefinitely, according to three
senior government officials with knowledge of White House deliberations.
Such an order would embrace claims by former president George W. Bush that
certain people can be detained without trial for long periods under the laws
of war. Obama advisers are concerned that bypassing Congress could place the
president on weaker footing before the courts and anger key supporters, the
officials said.
After months of internal debate over how to close the U.S. military prison
at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, White House officials are growing increasingly worried
that reaching quick agreement with Congress on a new detention system may prove
impossible. Several officials said there is concern in the White House that
the administration may not be able to close the facility by the president's
January deadline.
White House spokesman Ben LaBolt did not directly respond to questions about
an executive order but said the administration would address the cases of Guantanamo
detainees in a manner "consistent with the national security interests
of the United States and the interests of justice."
Iraq’s government will “embrace a long-term U.S. troop presence in return for U.S. security guarantees [referred to in another business as a protection racket] as part of a strategic partnership…an enduring relationship in military, economic and political terms.”
The dollar was savaged by the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve. The Fed's policies were designed to coincide with Bush's Middle East Crusade. They were supposed to work like two wheels on the same axle
Hubris and arrogance are too ensconced in Washington for policymakers to be aware of the economic policy trap in which they have placed the US economy.
Everything about America is done to the max—super sized—including ourselves. Americans are fond of excess, fond of glitz and glitter, the bright beads and trinkets of capitalism; the symbols of conspicuous consumption. Millions of us live in McMansions, drive fast cars and hulking tanks and work at high stress glamorous jobs that provide enormous financial reward but leave us spiritually empty.
In new books writers as disparate as Naomi Wolf and Pat Buchanan conclude that America as we know her is disappearing. Both writers hope, but are not confident, that enough Americans will catch on in time to find the leadership to pull America back from the brink
Civil libertarians are worried that a little-known anti-terrorism bill now making its way through the U.S. Congress with virtually no debate could be planting the seeds of another USA Patriot Act, which was hurriedly enacted into law after the al Qaeda attacks of Sep. 11, 2001
It is Pelosi who now represents Cheney-Bush’s most powerful and effective enabler and supporter. Pelosi is now a vital part of the Cheney-Bush crime machine. She is an accessory before, during and after the fact. And she assuredly supports the AIPAC/Cheney-Bush crime machine’s intended and unwarranted, unconstitutional invasion of Iran.
In their frantic drive to pave the way for a military strike against Iran, leading figures in the neoconservative pro-Israel lobby have embarked on a vicious campaign of demonizing that country by comparing it with the early years of Nazi Germany and its President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with Hitler.
On November 26, 2007 the Venezuelan government broadcast and circulated a confidential memo from the US embassy to the CIA which is devastatingly revealing of US clandestine operations and which will influence the referendum this Sunday (December 2, 2007).
